From a serendipitous student housing connection to a surprise horseback proposal in La Fortuna, Grace and Mathew’s love story has been one of timing, trust, and playful adventure. After reconnecting a decade later through a dating app, the two quickly fell into rhythm, spending their days riding e-bikes, playing chess, gardening, traveling, and swimming with their dogs. Costa Rica holds a special place in their hearts—so much so that it became both the proposal and wedding destination, a poetic full circle moment for their forever chapter.
Their wedding weekend at El Nido began with a relaxed welcome dinner at Chicha’s Lounge Restaurant and Tapas, where their 20 guests gathered for an intimate evening surrounded by nature and good food.
The morning of the wedding Grace got ready with a soft, romantic updo with curls framing her face, slipping into a stunning gown with lace sleeves and a straight neckline. Her bouquet was bursting with texture and color—tropical blooms that felt like a lush ode to the rainforest.
Mathew wore a classic multi-piece suit, elevated with a floral tie that added just the right amount of flair and personality. Their private first look was full of joyful laughter, setting the tone for a heartfelt day.
The ceremony took place with the majestic Arenal Volcano as their backdrop standing tall and mystical in the distance, shrouded in soft clouds. A harpist played serenely as the couple exchanged vows, surrounded by natural beauty, colorful florals, and the quiet presence of their closest loved ones. It was the kind of moment where time slows down and emotion takes center stage which was just as Grace had hoped.
