Calling all boho brides! This barefoot beach wedding in Langosta, Costa Rica has all the inspo you have been searching for! This wedding was really a treat. Elizabeth knew just the vibe she was looking for and we couldn't wait to bring it to life.
Elizabeth + Korey are high school sweethearts from New Jersey. They dated for 10 years - an entire decade before they started planning their beach wedding. They had been through everything together, every up and every down that comes with growing up. They knew their love could last through anything. That is when they decided to take the next leap and started looking to buy a home together!
After purchasing their dream home and closing on the house, they were handed the key! Elizabeth said "We opened the door and walked into the house that was finally officially OURS then Korey got down on one knee and proposed! It was so sweet. He knew that this moment would be the only time that I wouldn't expect it! To say the least, I was very surprised!" From one adventure to the next, they started planning their destination wedding all the way over the ocean in Costa Rica.
They wanted a destination wedding because they wanted to share their simple, easy going, yet adventurous and spontaneous nature with their guests. They had visited Tamarindo on a previous trip together and knew immediately that this is where their dream wedding would take place. After the easy decision of picking a location, they started planning a celebration that no one would forget.
This couple planned all the details for their intimate guest list of 30 close friends and family. They wanted it to be as easy as possible so their guests could enjoy the entire trip stress-free. Our travel planner and wedding planner helped them every step of the way, so Elizabeth + Korey could really enjoy the process themselves too!
After the guests arrived at the Liberia airport, they were picked up in private transportation to be taken to their beachfront hotel in Tamarindo. Since the guest list was so small, they wanted to keep everyone in one place. The Diria hotel is a stunning resort-style hotel located right in the center of everything. There are 3 pool areas on the property, including one with a swim-up bar bungalow! There is also a beautiful breakfast spread every morning so the guests could enjoy their breakfast on the beach or on the garden lawn. Everyone settled in and relaxed on their first day in Costa Rica.
The next day the couple arranged a catamaran cruise and snorkeling adventure through coastal waters. Everyone was picked up on the beach and taken over to the boat. Here they enjoyed sunbathing and relaxing as they gently headed into the ocean. After swimming with the fish and working up an appetite; they enjoyed fresh Bocas, appetizers, and an array of cocktails.
Most of the guests knew each other before this trip, but the other guests felt welcome and really had the opportunity to mingle with the family. As they sailed back to the shore, the sun started to set and everyone watched the sky transform in front of their eyes. This pre-wedding event was a great way to really kick off the adventurous weekend!
The next day was the big I do! All of the guests had their beachfront breakfast and explored the town as the couple started to get ready in their Diria hotel suites.
The bride and her gals enjoyed a morning getting all glammed up together. Both the bride and groom wrote letters to each other to read on the morning of. We can't help but tear up every time we hear Korey describe what he loves about Elizabeth - watch the video to hear it all.. and don't forget to grab tissues before.
This bride knew from the start she wanted more earthy and neutral tones in her wedding. The bright beautiful surroundings of Costa Rica were the colorful part of the big day. Everything from her intricate lace robe to her textured bouquet fit the boho theme. The groom wore a warm khaki suit and all the girls wore mix-matched neutral gowns that each had their own style.
This wedding was simple, elegant, and intimate - just like they envisioned. They wanted their wedding to feel homey but also authentic to Costa Rica.
The ceremony was on the sand, overlooking the ocean on Playa Langosta. There was a statement circular arch made of pampas grass and bench seating under the shade of a tree.
For the reception, there was a beautifully set table with woven basket lighting and string lights to really turn up the romantic feel. The night that followed included an adorable cake cutting, plenty of dancing, and great memories.
