When Lizzy + Graham started high school, I’m sure they had no idea they’d be meeting their future spouse but that’s exactly what happened! They met freshman year at the first class of the year (Honors Biology as it happens!) All I remember from freshman biology was being sent to the principles office for refusing to do the frog dissection (shudder) but they obviously have a much better takeaway from that course than I do! Fast forward a few years and this picture perfect couple said I do at a beautiful Conchal beach club wedding.
From our first conversation, Lizzy and Graham emphasized the experience over formalities. Lizzy had spent time in Chile and I think that influenced her desire for a destination wedding, as she was interested in sharing that bit of adventure with their guests.
I liked that Lizzy & Graham wanted to step away from a standard wedding formula. Their focus was on their guests' experience and the wedding was crafted around elements that were personal to them. Formal sit down dinner? Not the right fit. Instead, they opted for a cocktail party atmosphere, live band, and a variety of cocktails, and hors d’oeuvres with alternative types of seating to encourage conversation and mingling (LOVE the pillows and low table combo you’ll see below!).
Toasts were planned for the night before to avoid having a tight schedule on the wedding day. They really wanted to experience the day with their friends & family, rather than filling it with formalities, and I think they did a wonderful job of accomplishing this.
Lizzy was drawn to pinks and blues and worked with Cata to create unique design plans. I loved how this came out with the effect of the natural wood and white flowers balancing the pops of pink and blue. Reserva Conchal really suited their relaxed yet quality style and was the perfect backdrop for their event.
This bride wore a beautiful gown by Willowby by Watters BHLDN gown. I’m not sure I’ll ever see a BHLDN dress I don’t fall for instantly! She accessorised with earrings by BHLDN with a bridal headband found on Etsy by Sandra and Teddy. She finished the look with Nine West heels. The groom wore a J.Crew blue suit with a causal unbuttoned while dress shirt.
Lizzy & Graham were married on the beach of Playa Conchal, Costa Rica with a reception at Reserva Conchal Beach Club. They exchanged their vows surrounded by their closest family and friends. Enjoy!
