Some surprises are hard to keep quiet for months. This one was worth it!
To celebrate ten years of marriage, Wes secretly worked with us to plan a vow renewal for Jen in La Fortuna, Costa Rica, the same adventurous country that had already played such an important role in their love story. Long before marriage, Wes had spent time in Costa Rica farming, exploring, and falling in love with the lifestyle here. Years later, he wanted to bring Jen back and give her something unforgettable.
Jen and Wes first met while studying at Marshall University in West Virginia. She was immersed in music and singing, while Wes had just returned from a year packed with adventure, biking across the U.S., working in Colorado, and living in Costa Rica. They built a life together rooted in curiosity, creativity, and a shared love of the outdoors.
So when their tenth anniversary approached, Wes knew a standard dinner reservation was never going to be enough.
The couple travelled to the Arenal region thinking they were simply enjoying a special anniversary trip. Instead, waiting for them was an intimate renewal experience surrounded by rainforest beauty and views of the volcano. The setting felt peaceful, lush, and deeply personal, exactly the kind of place that reflects who they are.
Jen was surprised with a romantic ceremony where the two had the chance to pause and honour everything that had happened since their original wedding day. Ten years of marriage often carries more depth than the first vows ever could, built through real life, growth, support, challenge, and shared memories.
There were no distractions, no pressure, and no need for excess. Just the two of them, standing together again in Costa Rica, the place that helped shape their story from the beginning.
For Wes, it was a chance to thank Jen and celebrate the life they’ve created. For Jen, it was a moment she never saw coming.
And for both of them, it was proof that love can still surprise you after ten years.
