Las Catalinas

This international couple traveled from Tokyo for their dreamy wedding day at Las Catalinas in Costa Rica. Guests joined them from all over the world including Paris, Tokyo, and the bride's mom lives in Costa Rica!

This couple was not shy to the jet-set life. The bride also lived in Paris for a good portion of her school life and it was the first place the couple visited together. Then on another trip, he proposed on the plane to Paris! So romantic. Since they have traveled a lot together from the US, Greece, France, Belgium, Spain, Hong Kong, Indonesia and now Costa Rica.

This couple came to visit the bride's mom in December 2018 and did site visits during that trip. They were considering several beautiful properties, from villas at Four Seasons Papagayo Peninsula, Andaz Papagayo, the stunning Villa Manzu, among other properties, but ultimately they loved wandering through the cobblestone streets of Las Catalinas. The quiet uniqueness and sheer beauty made this location the right fit for their wedding.

During that trip, they also had a super fun engagement shoot! • Coming soon to our blog! Stay tuned!

The bride has always loved Costa Rica, in fact, she lived here for about 7 years! She loves the contrast to her Toyko lifestyle. Here is soaks in nature, wilderness, sunsets, and always has sandy toes. She can't get enough gallo pinto con natilla,  tropical fruits, and pipas - that don't cost 10$ like back in the city. She couldn't wait to share all these special memories with her new hubby and friends from all over the world.

The couple wanted all the guests coming from Paris and Tokyo, which are two very formal cities, to really embrace the laid-back atmosphere - to relax and have fun. She said " this isn't an occasion to show-off or "dress to impress", we are all tired of that kind of stuff in the big cities." So in Costa Rica they embraced a relaxed vibe.

The ceremony was on the lawn overlooking the ocean. You could hear the waves crashing in the distance and lapas flying overhead. All of the sounds the bride loved growing up here.

Everyone enjoyed coconut cocktails that were custom made with the couples logo after the big I do! They mingled in front of the bougainvillea trees and beautiful foliage all over dreamy Las Catalinas.

The reception was outdoors. It was an intimate and small reception with just close friends and family. You could feel the warmth and love in the air as everyone celebrated with the dynamic duo. One of the main things this couple wanted to focus on for the big day was... FOOD! The words they used were "We want a superb menu." That was an easy check mark at this venue!

After the dinner and touching speeches, there was a relaxing dance party that kicked off with a sax artist! The vibe was very pura vida, bohemian, and natural.. everybody just enjoyed themselves and let loose!
