Alex and Chris’s love story began at a volunteer project in Eugene, Oregon. Their shared passion for giving back to the community sparked a friendship that blossomed into love. Over time, their bond grew deeper, leading to a beautiful proposal on their anniversary, May 4, 2021. Chris had planned to propose during a romantic walk through a nearby park, making the moment extra special despite the pandemic. Since then, May 4th has become a significant date for the couple, marking their dating anniversary, engagement, and now, their wedding day
The morning of their wedding was filled with excitement and joy as Alex and her bridesmaids prepared for the big day in matching tropical robes, setting the tone for the chic, tropical vibe they envisioned. Alex wore a stunning white robe with elegant lace sleeves before changing into her wedding dress.
Chris donned a dark green suit with a pop of orange in his tie, and a big grin to match. The bridesmaids complemented the earthy palette with burnt orange dresses in different styles to match their personalities.
Before all the excitement of the big moment - the couple shared a sweet first look in the garden, surrounded by lush greenery before heading to the ceremony together.
Their ceremony took place just steps away at Cala Luna Hotel, a lush and tropical venue that perfectly matched the couple's dream of a jungle-inspired ceremony. The ceremony arch was simple yet chic, a wooden frame draped with elegant fabric and accented with tropical flowers at the top right corner, creating a romantic and intimate setting.
Chris’s heartfelt vows, spoken during the ceremony, brought tears to everyone’s eyes.
"Alexandra, I was drawn to you from the moment I saw you almost 5 years ago. You have a natural magnetism whose pull is so powerful I never had a chance. Honestly, it has compelled us all to join you halfway around the world. And oh, how thankful we are for having been drawn into your life. Since that fateful day, my life has changed beyond recall. And I wouldn’t know how to go back. You have given me so much and, though at times I don’t deserve it, you continue to do so. You’ve not only given me your love, support, and patience... You’ve given me purpose. No longer do I have a house on a hill; I have a home. No longer do I drive a Lexus; I drive a family sedan. No longer am I just a guy with some dogs; I’m a husband and a father. No longer is my life lived only for me, but for my family. My family that you have given me. A gift so great I fear it can never be fully repaid, but I promise to always try."
Following the emotional ceremony, the couple took a stroll to the beach for their photoshoot during the cocktail hour. Despite a light rain between the ceremony and reception, the day unfolded beautifully, with every detail reflecting the couple’s love for nature. The couple embraced the elements, capturing stunning photos that will forever remind them of the natural beauty and magic of Costa Rica.
The reception took place under a clear tent, creating a perfect blend of elegance and nature. Wooden chairs with white cushions surrounded the wooden dinner tables, which were decorated with chic white table numbers and tropical floral arrangements. The minimalist design allowed the beauty of the natural surroundings to shine through.
As the rain cleared, guests danced under the twinkling lights and the lush, tropical ambiance of Sueno del Mar. The couple’s reception was a true reflection of their boho-chic style, filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments. The couple’s deep connection and the natural beauty of Costa Rica made this Rainy Day Langosta Wedding one to remember. For Alex and Chris, this day was not just a celebration of their love but also a celebration of the family they have built together, including their less than one year old son. Looking ahead, they are excited about continuing to build their life together, creating new memories, and one day fulfilling their dream of owning a small farm full of animals.
