Tamara + Dave

Tamara + Dave traveled with their family and friends from Canada for an amazing destination wedding experience in Tamarindo, Costa Rica. They filled their week with adventures, from ziplining to a beach party on an isolated beach - complete with spearfishing and an evening bonfire! They were married at Pangas Beach Club in Tamarindo and stayed at the nearby Tamarindo Diria, a great option for its central location in town, ocean views, and proximity to their Pangas Beach Club Wedding.

These two had spent some time in Tamarindo in 2015, so when we initially chatted in 2016, Tamarindo was a quick choice right away. From there, the bohemian style she loved led us to Pangas very quickly.  The setting provided the perfect backdrop for her style, very relaxed and fun feel but with rich natural style and top-notch food and service.

Tamara loved a bohemian style with vivid colors. We love her selections for softer tones in bridesmaids dresses, which complemented the brighter flowers perfectly. When Cata & Tamara first spoke about design, they bonded right away over a mutual love of bohemian designs and pineapples.  Tamara initially was looking at softer peach, pink, and ivory tones but with embracing the natural tropical florals of Costa Rica.  Through late night texts and chats, and many Pinterest pins, Tamara realized she was responding more to richer pink, purple, and burgundy palettes.  The deep tones were perfect for combining with gold accents, and mixing with natural elements.

The wedding arch was an item we were particularly thrilled about, with its simple thin gold frame and draping leaf garland with just a minimal touch of color.

The bride wore a beautiful Love Marley Cora by Watters gown with Stella & Dot earrings and a Jakob & Jamie necklace. The groom wore a Ted Baker suit while the groomsmen wore suits by Supreme Menswear. The bridesmaids wore Joanna August & Hayley Paige Occasions gowns and Plum Pretty Sugar rompers while getting ready.

This decor and the tablescape were really special. The vintage brass vases in different shapes and heights were the perfect fit, paired with wood pedestal vases and of course the gold pineapples!  Our designer, Cata, has a vintage shop on Etsy so is a huge help in sourcing unique event details that are otherwise hard to find in Costa Rica; she kept Tamara's vision in mind as she scoured brass vases in consignment shops.

We utilized Pangas upstairs covered space for dinner because of some clouds threatening rain but the weather was in our favor so the majority of the event was enjoyed outdoors.

I do have to say, Tamara's use of Pinterest was completely ideal as - let's face it - Pinterest can make even the sanest gal crazy. We've all been there - it can drag you in so many directions and styles that you could be planning 10 different weddings (or birthday parties, or crafts, recipes, home improvements, etc..).  Tamara's colors evolved but her core style remained the same so the results remained very true to her aesthetic.  We love the influence Pinterest had on her wedding; as much as we liked her original palette we really couldn't be happier with her choice of the bolder tones.

Kristina + Carola executed the day smoothly, switching to the backup plan of using Pangas second floor for dinner when the weather was questionable. You'd never guess that was the plan B from looking at the photos! Personality-wise they were a great fit with Tamara & Dave, making the day relaxed, fun, and a beautiful celebration.
