Canadian residents, Karina + Chris, had dreamed of having a simple, laid-back micro wedding in Costa Rica that could essentially feel like a family vacation with a wedding mixed in. When asked to describe the look of their wedding, Karina + Chris hoped for a romantic and timeless feel that was authentic to who they are as a couple. We were so happy to fulfill the wedding of their dreams by cultivating this simple and effortlessly elegant villa minimony!
When asked to describe how they wanted their wedding to feel, this adorable couple emphasized they mostly wanted their guests to feel like they were on their own vacations rather than being tied to an itinerary. They expressed being most excited to celebrate intimately with the people that mean the absolute most to them.
Karina + Chris chose to have a memorable first look where they privately exchanged vows. Following the couple’s first look, Karina also had a special moment with her father before the ceremony began. The photographer got plenty of footage to cherish these moments for a lifetime, of course!
The bride envisioned simple yet tasteful decor for their big day, incorporating lots of natural elements, neutral tones, and touches of greenery. Guests were greeted with fresh coconuts before taking their seats at this intimate ceremony.
The wooden arch, covered in greenery with hints of soft white floral, made for a stunning centerpiece for this intimate courtyard ceremony. Karina’s best friend was even the unofficial officiant of the wedding, so there wasn’t a dry eye in the villa.

Karina + Chris are a laid-back, easygoing couple who love spending time outdoors, trying new recipes in the kitchen, and most of all spending quality time together. They both agreed that their best memories together are the quiet ones, just the two of them hangin’ out. We asked these lovebirds what their favorite things are about one another, and the answers are nothing short of adorable.
Karina shared “He's patient. He forces me to communicate when I shy away from hard conversations. He's a hard worker. He's honest and comes from a great family with an amazing father as a role model.”
Chris followed by saying “She's smart - She's changed my life for the better and taught me so much. She's fun and adventurous. She's down to earth and would do anything for her friends and family.”
For the intimate dinner reception, we incorporated rattan hanging lanterns, vintage light bulbs, and draping ivy to bring the newlyweds' vision of a natural and timeless look to life.
