Before jumping to the I do from this Villa Caletas Wedding we want to start from the beginning. This modern love story started in Austin, Texas. Two powerhouse singles signed up for a dating app called “Coffee Meets Bagel” and after some endless chatting Michelle + David decided to meet on a sunny day in Fall 2015.
The first date was on Rainey St., a popular street in Austin, where they had casual drinks and great conversation. It wasn't long before they planned an adventure together. They kicked it off strong with a second date consisting of kayaking and bat watching. It was easy to tell from the start that this would never be a boring love story.
Fast forward past many more adventures to April of 2018. The couple headed into Zion National Park in Utah for a full day of hiking. After soaking in some stunning red rock views in this nature preserve, David knelt down to pop the question! There was no hesitation for Michelle and we bet everyone in the park heard her scream YES!
Costa Rica was an easy choice for a destination wedding for these two. This bride said "David and I enjoy adventure and culture when it comes to vacationing. We don’t care to explore big cities like London but rather somewhere where there’s lots of culture, good food, good people and a good adventure." Costa Rica sure does have all of that!
This couple encouraged their loved ones to plan a longer trip so the prewedding was filled with lots of relaxing by the pool and some sightseeing. The couple went on a private waterfall hike where they jumped hand and hand into the falls pool. They invited their photographer along too to grab some awesome photos for a keepsake.
The morning of the wedding was hot and sunny. The bride got ready in a room overlooking the pool that just flooded with light to make her make up look really flawless. This bride wore a dreamy full length sleeve gown with lace details from Calla Blanche and her friend Hair By Love colored her hair for the occasion. The equally stylish groom wore a Indochino suit. They also hired their favorite photography and video teams from back home, You Kai Creations and H+K Weddings. They both prepared a little love letter to one another about how excited they were to tie the knot. We loved seeing this in the full wedding video, see that at the bottom of this post! - Such a great idea.
This bride picked this venue from finding it on pinterest! We were thrilled when she contacted us to be the planners. This venue is so regal and classic. It feels like you have truly stepped back in time. Everyone sat in the stands and looked down at the wedding with perfect views of the couple and of the villa's vista.
After the ceremony everyone headed up the stairs for cocktail hour and exploring the venue. Everyone drank from signature coconuts with their table numbers on them and the couple sipped from pineapples. All of the guests started mingling and the relaxed atmosphere was contagious.
Everyone headed to the villa ballroom for dinner. After a delicious dinner everyone headed to the beautifully decorated outdoor area for dancing. This may have been the best party last year. Everyone really let loose and danced their hearts out. You could tell everyone was a close-knit bunch. Per usual, the night ended too soon but of course everyone hopped into the villa's pool before calling it a night.
After the wedding the couple planned a “friendmoon” instead of a honeymoon. This bride said "We thought it would be a super fun idea to go hiking, canoeing, or white water rafting with our closest loved ones as a newlywed couple. What better place than Costa Rica!"
The post-wedding activities included a whitewater rafting tour that the bride describes as the "next best thing to our wedding that we have experienced in our entire lives." She mentioned even months later that she still thinks bout it all the time. We know we will be sure to catch this adventure-loving couple back in Costa Rica soon! Congrats Michelle + David.
