Rohit + Diego

Rohit and Diego live in New York but they come from completely different backgrounds. Diego's family is from Argentina and Rohit's family is from India. This wedding incorporated multicultural elements throughout the event to honor their families.

With guests coming from all over the world, scenic views were a priority when picking a wedding venue. We actually explored options in both Mexico and Costa Rica with Rohit and Diego (yes! sometimes we plan outside Costa Rica!) but ultimately Zephyr Palace at Villa Caletas was the favorite location. This venue was unique and booking all the rooms in Zephyr Palace was a plus for a little more flexibility with the timeline than most venues and some of the guests could party into the morning hours!

In addition, the unique rooms at Zephyr Palace and Villa Caletas are really stunning and make you feel like you are in another world.

For the design concept, Rohit loved certain industrial elements, rustic details, and rich colors like navy and burgundy. Blending these with the design of Zephyr Palace was a tall order. Good thing our in house designer, Cata, loves a challenge! She did a great job weaving these styles together and editing for cohesive results.

Zephyr Palace has a truly one of a kind vista, the outdoor panoramic views of beautiful Costa Rica alone will make for a memorable day. Not all venues allowed outside catering but that was one of the advantages of this property, as we were able to bring in a caterer for authentic Indian cuisine. The menu was so colorful and flavorful!

As per Indian traditions, everyone was greeted with welcome drinks and snacks. For drinks, they enjoyed mango lassi and strawberry lassi. This is a traditional Indian drink that is similar to a simple yogurt smoothie. For welcome snacks, they served Papri avocado chaat canapes, potato peanut croquettes, and Pudina paneer sandwiches.

Everyone then took their seats for the ceremony. There were wooden benches that faced the vista and the elegant pillars just below the stairs. At the end of the aisle we placed two large arrangements in clay urns with wild branches and florals. Burgundy and yellow flowers with pops of blue framed the couple as they exchanged vows.

Just after the ceremony, everyone watched the sunset from the terrace while sipping cocktails and snapping photos. Rohit and Diego wanted a photographer that would capture real moments and not be too posed. Estefania was a great fit for them, she made sure to capture every authentic moment. With their families living so far apart, this was a one of a kind event to have both families together so Estefania was careful to capture photos of all the guests.

It is traditional to have a longer cocktail hour at Indian weddings. They served another round of appetizers that included Malai Chicken Tikka, Lamb Seekh Lababdar, Paani Puri, Paneer Tikka, toasted ginger garlic mushrooms, and cold tomato shooters with grilled cumin paneer.

For the reception guests walked into the grand ballroom with beautifully painted walls perfect for an elegant party. Rohit & Diego loved Edison style bulbs and wood so Los Primos custom made a hanging lighting fixture to combine the two elements over their sweetheart table.

Burgundy, orange, and mustard florals added warmth and richness to the centerpieces adding to the elegant ambiance. The place settings had a matte copper charger, gold flatware, with navy and gold table numbers. The sweetheart table arrangement was sitting on a wood slab and featured floating candles in a copper vessel. Wood was also used for the centerpieces and for the chairs to tie everything together and the navy was used for contrast with the print materials.

For the after-dinner celebrations, we transformed the ceremony space into an inviting lounge. This outdoor space was great because it is well lit in the evening and we added in warm uplighting to highlight the stunning columns.

A personal touch was added to the photo booth for some extra fun at the end of the night. Diego loves scary movies so Rohit wanted a photo booth with a cemetery backdrop. Meghan arranged for a gold backdrop to be in the early setup of the photo booth and then had the funny backdrop unveiled towards the end of the evening. In addition to the Indian desserts, they had 4 cakes with flavors such as vanilla cake with passionfruit filling. They also had local custom made Chocolate Truffles and Cookies as wedding favors, a sweet unexpected touch for their guests with a touch of quirkiness as the cookies had a Day of the Dead decoration. Congrats Rohit + Diego! Thank you for letting us be a part of this beautiful wedding.
