Wes & Jen’s sweet rainforest wedding has been featured this week by Gardenia de Agosto, a new curated blog focusing on timeless elegance with a fine art aesthetic. Wes & Jen’s wedding, captured by the talented Lisa Blume, is certainly that!
Jen is a talented singer and met Wes after he completed a gap year between graduating college and med school. During that gap year, one of his experiences included volunteering on a farm in Costa Rica through the WWOOF (World Wide Opportunites on Organic Farms) and later when they became engaged these experiences influenced their wedding planning. Jen wanted a tropical destination, Wes had loved Costa Rica, and they both loved Costa Rica’s dedicated to environmental awareness and appreciation of nature. Costa Rica was clearly the perfect fit for beginning their lives together. Wes & Jen even volunteered at a farm as part of their honeymoon, before continuing on for some relaxing pampering at a beach resort. Overall their travel plans in Costa Rica were the perfect mix of adventure, giving back, appreciating the environment, and relaxation.
It was also important to them to focus on simplicity and love. The La Fortuna / Arenal Volcano area was the perfect setting for allowing their guests to experience the rainforest and beauty of Costa Rica. We carefully selected a venue and setting that would enable them to be surrounded by nature, while still having a covered space in case of rain, since it is after all, the rainforest! We kept decor clean with textured linens, a community U-shaped table for everyone to sit together, simple flowers, rustic x back wood chairs, and clear glass beaded base plates. Wes handcrafted wood place cards with guests names, and he had also mailed guests hand crafted wine racks as a personal thank you gift before they traveled.
Showers were off and on throughout the wedding day but happiness and love are all you see in their wedding photos. Lisa Blume did a beautiful job capturing the spirit of the day.
